Call forwarding guide
How to forward calls on Grasshopper.
Grasshopper forwards calls per number or extension. Add your OnAnswer247 number there, pick when it should ring, and save. No star codes needed.
Forward a number or extension
- Log into your Grasshopper account and go to Settings, then Call Forwarding Settings, then Extensions.
- Click edit next to the number or extension you want to forward, or create a new one.
- Enter your OnAnswer247 number as the forwarding number. It can be a mobile number or a landline.
- Choose how Grasshopper handles the call, for example whether it announces the call before you pick up.
- Pick the time frame the rule covers: 24/7, weekends, or a custom schedule.
- Save your settings.
Forwarding is included on all Grasshopper plans at no extra cost. You can forward to several phones at once so every call is answered.
Turn forwarding off
- Return to Settings, then Call Forwarding Settings, then Extensions.
- Edit the number or extension and change or remove the forwarding number, then save.
Test it
Once you forward to your OnAnswer247 number, call your Grasshopper number from another phone. The assistant should answer. If it does not, recheck the forwarding number and the rule's schedule.
Common pitfalls
- A wrong schedule is the usual cause of missed forwards. Check that the rule covers the hours you expect.
- If calls drop or ring the wrong place, recheck the forwarding number digit by digit.
- If you take Grasshopper calls in the app, keep the app up to date. Grasshopper support is available around the clock on all plans.
