Call forwarding guide
How to forward calls on Comcast Business VoiceEdge.
VoiceEdge forwarding is set in the online portal. It covers all calls, busy, no answer, and not reachable: calls that arrive during a power or broadband outage.
Forward all calls
- Log on to business.comcast.com/bveportal.
- From the main navigation page, select Feature Settings, then Call Forwarding.
- Under Call Forwarding Always, enter your OnAnswer247 number in the Phone Number or Extension field.
- Toggle On to forward all calls, then click Save. To stop, toggle Off and click Save.
To still hear your desk phone ring on forwarded calls, select Play Ring Reminder When a Call is Forwarded.
Forward when busy or unanswered
- Log on to business.comcast.com/bveportal.
- From the main navigation page, select Feature Settings, then Call Forwarding.
- Scroll to Call Forwarding Busy or Call Forwarding No Answer. Enter your OnAnswer247 number, click On to start or Off to stop, then click Save.
Busy and no answer is the usual pick with an answering assistant: you can still pick up, and anything you miss is answered.
Forward when unreachable
- Log on to business.comcast.com/bveportal.
- From the main navigation page, select Feature Settings, then Call Forwarding, and scroll to Call Forwarding Not Reachable.
- Enter your OnAnswer247 number, then click Save. Calls route there on their own during an outage. No action is needed at the time.
This destination is set when your service is provisioned. You can change it at any time. The number must be allowed by your outgoing calling plan.
Test it
Once you forward to your OnAnswer247 number, call your business line from another phone. The assistant should answer. If nothing forwards, check that the rule shows On and that the number is entered with the area code.
Common pitfalls
- Forward-to numbers must be domestic. International numbers are not allowed.
- Be Anywhere does not work while Call Forwarding Always is on.
- The VoiceEdge guide also lists codes you dial from your phone. This page uses the portal steps only. If you need phone codes, ask Comcast support at 877-761-7401.
